Preschool Co-op

Raising children is a sacred task, one that is an immeasurable blessing and an immeasurable challenge all at the same time. To encourage and assist families in child-rearing, All Saints Lutheran Church hosts a small group of families that are sharing in life together by meeting one day per week for a preschool co-op. This setting helps to form and shape children in mind, body, and soul.

This preschool co-op program is rooted in the historic Christian faith as expressed in the ancient Christian Creeds and expounded in confessional Lutheranism’s continuation of that apostolic tradition. Throughout its long history, the Christian church has placed high priority on educating the young and building schools for the formation of the next generation of Christians in wisdom and virtue and in faith toward God and fervent love toward one another. We are continuing that tradition as we assist families in raising their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4), and in forming their children in Christ, in whom dwells all truth, goodness, and beauty (Colossians 1-2).

preschool Co-Op Highlights:

  • Designed to serve families with young children (infant through early elementary school).
  • Meets once per week on Thursday mornings from 9:30-12:00 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 17030 Lancaster Hwy, Charlotte, NC 28277.
  • Implemented and executed by moms of the children who are present and play a role in leading a part of the morning.
  • The morning also includes engaging times of movement and memory, show and tell, a Bible story, craft, snack time, outdoor playtime, and read-alouds.
  • Each morning begins with a Matins service led by Pastor. This traditional service includes prayer, liturgy, a Bible reading, reciting the Ten Commandments and the Apostles Creed, and singing hymns. Following the Matins service, Pastor does a sanctuary sighting with the children that connects to the Letter of the Day and theme of the day.
  • Then end of the day concludes with a hymn sing, gathering around the piano to sing the weekly hymn, in addition to a few of the children’s favorites.
  • Each week is themed around a letter of the alphabet. The weekly Bible verse correlates with the letter that day, as well as the Bible story, the sanctuary sighting, the weekly hymns, and show and tell.
  • Outside of the regular Thursday morning co-op days, we plan field trips at least once a month, as well as regular meetups at a park.
  • The co-op is a wonderful opportunity for moms and children to grow in the faith, as well as have time for building relationships with one another and sharing one another’s burdens and blessings.
  • The co-op also is a wonderful preparation for All Saints Classical Academy, where such formation into wisdom, virtue, and faith can continue by means of a classical hybrid school that reconnects the life of the home with the life of the church and the life of the school.
